Types of wagers

Win: You collect if your horse wins.

Place: You collect if your horse finishes 1st or 2nd.

Show: You collect if your horse finishes 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

Win, place, show (Across the board): Betting the same horse to win, place, and show is referred to as betting across the board. You can win if any or all of the three bets depending on if your horse finishes 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

Exacta: You collect by selecting the 1st- and 2ndplace horses in exact order.

Exacta box: Select at least two horses and collect if your horses finish 1st and 2nd in either order.

Quinella: A bet similar to an exacta box where you collect if your horses finish 1st and 2nd in either order.

Daily Double: You collect by selecting the winners of two races in a row (known as the first and second leg).

Trifecta: You collect by picking the 1st-, 2nd-, and 3 rd-place finishers in a race in exact order.

Trifecta box: Select at least three horses and collect if they finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in any order.

Superfecta: You collect by picking the 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-place finishers in a race in exact order. This bet can be made in minimum 10-cent denominations.

Superfecta box: Select at least four horses and collect if they finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in any order. This bet is available in 10-cent increments.

Pick 3 / Pick 4: You collect by selecting the winners of 3 (or 4) races in a row (known as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th legs).

Pick 6: You collect by selecting the winners of 6 races in a row.
